These elections are crucial for Europe. As the co-president of the Greens/EFA in the European Parliament and the Green leading candidate, I am fighting side by side with those who defend Europe against its enemies and who want to renew the European promises of peace, freedom and prosperity. Together, we can make sure that Europe tackles the climate crisis, becomes a social union and ensures the rights of all Europeans. Fighting against injustices and racism brought me to activism; environmental protection and feminism brought me to the Greens. I grew up at the Polish-German border and for me, Europe is overcoming those borders between people; be it physical or mental borders. Since I became a Member of the European Parliament in 2009, I have been fighting for a humanitarian Europe that takes responsibility for refugees and for a social Europe, making sure that globalization is not just a playground for multinationals. Europe is what we make out of it. Let's change it together!
This time there is a huge opportunity to change Europe and the way we do politics in Europe. More and more Europeans are tired of the old politics. Take the fight against climate change. Other political parties keep on saying that it is so important to cut back on carbon emissions, but they fail to act time and time again. As climate scientist i decided to go into politics, because I was frustrated by the inaction of current politicians. I know we have the answer to fight climate change, so I decided to put them into practise. I have many years of experience in climate policy, both in the European Parliament and in all UN Climate Summits - from Copenhagen via Paris to Katowice. I spoke with Al Gore in Berlin, gave advice on the ground breaking Dutch climate law. I am ready to call out my opponents. It is time to deliver on climate policy. We as Greens have a plan for a better Europe.
